Steve has been active in the
Redwood City community for several years. He has served as President of the
Sequoia High School Education Foundation for the Future, on the Board of
Directors of the Redwood City Police Athletic League, the Service League of San
Mateo County - Fundraising, Cañada College - Small Business Development -
Advisory Board, and the Historical Union Cemetery Association.
As
Chairman of the efforts to restore Carrington Hall - on the Sequoia High School
campus, Penna participated in all aspects of the project and fostered community
support to secure the $11 million needed to turn the Auditorium into a top
notch Performing Arts Center for San Mateo County.
Penna has
also volunteered countless hours for - the San Mateo County CASA program (Child
Advocates) and was name Child Advocate of the Year for San Mateo and Santa
Clara Counties in 2002, the Miss Redwood City Scholarship Pageant, City of
Redwood City - Senior Affairs Commission, Fair Oaks Neighborhood Association,
Redwood City/San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce - Ambassador Chair -
Membership Drive Team Leader, St. Pius Youth Ministry, Sequoia YMCA
fundraising, Peninsula Celebration Association, St. Raymond's School (Menlo
Park), San Mateo Community College District Foundation, Optimist Club of
Redwood City and the Sequoia High School Alumni Association.
Working as
a self-employed Marketing and Advertising Consultant - Penna works with several
local businesses including the San Mateo Daily Journal, Peninsula Media, and
Coldwell Banker.
Penna is
the Owner and Publisher of The Spectrum Magazine - Redwood City's monthly
magazine.
